SSIC and Shenzen Futian held a cordial conversation on potential cooperation in healthcare and life sciences industry in Zurich

The Swiss-Sino Innovation Center (SSIC) received a delegation from Shenzhen Futian District, led by the District Party Secretary, Mr. Lü Yuyin. Futian District is the commercial and business center of Shenzhen. The director of SSIC, Dr. Feng Jianhua, and the secretary-general, Dr. Wu Ke welcomed the guests. Dr. Feng presented the innovation and competitiveness of Switzerland, especially in fields of biology and pharmaceutics. Dr. Wu introduced the development of SSIC to the guests.

SSIC invited four representatives from fields of research, innovation and entrepreneurship to join the meeting: 1) Dr. Cao Xiaobao from the Institute of Chemical and bio-engineering of ETH Zurich. He developed a high-speed imaging flow cytometry system and processed the image data with AI method. 2) Dr. Xue Peng, expert of molecular biology, introduced the main projects and activities at the Institute of System Biology of ETH Zurich. 3) Dr. Hu Dou, expert of animal genetics, introduced the research and innovation at the Institute of Agricultural sciences. 4) Prof. Xue Shao-An presented a new strategy for cancer immunotherapy based on T cell receptor gene transfer.
The two parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in the future and reached the preliminary agreement: 1) further negotiate the possibility of SSIC and an incubator base named “Swiss-China innovation” entering into Futian Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. 2) Further discuss the feasibility of holding China (Shenzhen) - Europe (Switzerland) innovation competition. 3) Further discuss the long-term cooperation. 4) Explore the entry permit of CE marking medical devices and medicine R&D into the new district.
In his closing remark, the District party Secretary, Mr. Lü mentioned that before the delegation came to Switzerland, they knew little about the high level of research and innovation in Switzerland. After the short visit, they are now very interested in this country and have recognized that Shenzhen and Switzerland are highly complementary to each other in fields of hi-tech and innovation. Mr. Lü attached a lot of importance to the cooperation with SSIC. The district will send another delegation to Switzerland to further explore the possibility of cooperation.
